 REPORT OF

ENVIRONMENTAL DAY CELEBRATIONS AT NARMADA COLLEGE CAMPUS

IN ASSOCIATION WITH

BRANCHES OF STATE BANK OF INDIA AND REGIONAL OFFICE

BHARUCH

5TH JUNE, SUNDAY, 2022

World Environment Day was celebrated at Narmada College Campus on 5th June, Sunday, in collaboration with State Bank of India – Branches and Regional Office Bharuch. All the staff and students of Narmada College Campus along with the officers from State Bank of India planted more than 60 trees on the campus. Saplings were also given to those interested in taking them for plantation at their residences.

Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. Earth faces a triple planetary emergency:

  • the climate is heating up too quickly for people and nature to adapt;
  • habitat loss and other pressures mean an estimated 1 million species are threatened with extinction;
  • pollution continues to poison our air, land and water.

The way out of this dilemma is to transform our economies and societies to make them inclusive, fair and more connected with nature. We must shift from harming the planet to healing it.

The good news is the solutions and the technology exists and is increasingly affordable.

The programme began at 9:30 in the presence of Director, Narmada College of Management, I/c, Principal, Narmada College of Science and Commerce, and Shri Sinha and Shri Moizbhai from State Bank of India. After the address by the dignitaries, tree plantation was done by the entire SBI team, staff and students of Narmada College of Management and Narmada College of Science and Commerce.

The event concluded with light refreshments and discussions related to environment conservation among the participants.
