NARMADA COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT
Report on Guest Session
Organized on 27th June 2021
Introduction:
Nelson
Mandela once said “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to
inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” The
world is in the middle of this pandemic which has had a miserable effect on our
lives. People feel depressed and isolated due to the stay at home mandates in
place. These are times of adversity and uncertainty.
High performance
athletes face adversities and anxieties on a regular basis. This ability
differentiates the rest of us from these athletes. But the same skill and ability
can be applied even in our everyday life. A guest session was organized on 27th
June, 2021 on ‘Invaluable Life lessons to learn from Olympic Champions’ by
Narmada College of Management, in an online mode. The guest speaker for the
session was Mr. E Anand Swaroop, DGM – HR, PI Industries Ltd., Panoli with more
than 20 + years experience in companies like Birla Copper, Atul Ltd, Adani,

Development activities and loves taking training sessions.
Gist of the session:
The Olympics motto
“Citius, Altius, Fortius” (Faster, Higher, Stronger) is still relevant today,
that is why there is fascination for Olympic sports through-out the World and
India is no stranger to this event. India has been participating in the event
since 1900, till date we have been able to get 9 Gold, 7 Silver and 12 Bronze
medals in various categories. We have got 8 Gold medals in Team events - Hockey
= through late legendary Major Dhyan Chand and team members, but GOLD in
individual capacity was elusive to the nation till 2008. The nation had to wait
for such a long time to get their dreams fulfilled.
Mr. Anand Swaroop
shared the story of the person who has brought India’s 1st GOLD medal in
individual capacity and has paved way for lot of budding and aspiring
sportsmen/women to strive for GOLD and achieve the same. Mr Swaroop gave us a
glance into the journey undertaken by Mr Abhinav Bindra and highlighted the
qualities which helped him get a GOLD medal.
Mr Swaroop believes
that these qualities must not be restricted to strive for excellence in Sports
only, but they can be applied in all walks of life be it in Profession,
Academics, Wellness etc.
