Session on OB subject started sharp at 11:10 AM by DR PragnaKaulas a Resource person. She introduced the subject and explained us that how this subject is different, unique from other management subjects and how can be made more interesting as well as interactive. She adds that this subject acts fundamentals to all other management subjects and gives freedom to the subject teacher to handle the subject in many ways using various combinations of pedagogical tools.
She elaborated and shared her hands on experience on how she deals with her OB class. She divides and makes the students learn OB at three level – individual level, group level and organizational level. In order to make OB concepts understandable - she first Directs students (tells students what to do) then make them Discuss the concept well in class and ask them to pen down key take away and finally Delegates or empowers studentsto deal with OB activities. She usually make use of various pedagogical tools like PPT/reflections, Reading & live assignments, case studies and discussions, Article critique, storytelling, games, videos, movies, ted talks, movie making exercises etc… In fact she has also clarified that which type of OB topics can best explained by which tools or teaching pedagogy.
· Topics like attitude, perception, and personality can be best explained through storytelling, filmy stories, and practical organizational examples
· Topics like groups, team can better explained with the use of management games, group practical assignments, role plays
· Topics like change management and stress management can better handled through case studies and discussions
· Motivation, leadership can be managed through lesson from movies, videos of successful leaders,SandipMaheshwari motivational talks, ted talks on motivation, corporate stories etc…
· Organizational change and organizational development – Book review on Who moved my cheese?
· Organizational culture – cultural collage of any organization or any individual using iceberg model
DR JagrutVasavda explained module wise that how to make the OB content rich by using various pedagogical tools. He also shared his practices to deal with the subject. Further he elaborated on the problems that student usually faces while writing OB paper/ exam. He described and suggested tips that would help students in writing OB paper effectively. Following points were discussed
· Time management - Students should properly allot time for each question
· Length of the answers should be based on marks written on question paper
· Students should come out of the myth – more pages will lead to more marks. Role of faculty is to make them understand that quality of answers will help to score more marks.
· Lack of Explanation skills due to English language problem
· Avoid readings from Thakur Publications
· Dealing with case studies in the paper
Near about 14-15 OB teachers participatedin this session representing various GTU affiliated colleges. The session was very interactive and participants were asked to share their experience in terms of handling OB class.The class ended at 1:15 PM
To become subject expert - Faculties were asked to not only refer GTU recommended text books but also suggested to read other books like OB by Fred Luthan, OB Case Study by V.G. Kondalkar and for average students – OB by Newstrom etc… such books can be used by Ob teacher to widen their knowledge horizon on OB subject.

EXAM OF YOGODA SATSANG SOCIETY

22 Students of Narmada College of Management attended a campus outreach programme of Yogoda Satsang Dhyan Mandali, the spiritual organization started by Paramhamsa Yogananda, the world famous author of ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’.
The students had to read a book based on the thoughts of Sri Paramhamsa Yogananda, titled, The Law of Success and then appear for an exam based on the book.
The students were given the book 10 days in advance and later on they appeared for the exam.
Based on the response, it has been planned to hold on more such session at NCM campus as well.

Dr. Siddharth Das began the session with an introduction of the concept of ethics and various levels at which the discussion can be had with the students. He underlined the importance of business ethics in the coming time with lot of statistics and data from international research studies.
He reflected on the fact that this is a subject which is based on philosophy and metaphysics so it becomes very essential to clarify all the concepts that are discussed in the subject. He also stressed the fact that faculty members will have to take an active interest in reading various topics and understanding themselves first hand and then making the students understand the concepts.
Dr. Shakina Munshi began her session with the emphatic assertion that ethics is a subject of the soul and hence it can only be understood by having a deep connection with oneself first. She outlined the entire course content of all the four modules and how each topic can be dealt with in the class either by discussion, role plays, external visits and lecturing.
After the completion of the sessions by the resource persons, the students had a good discussion about whether this subject should be part of semester one or semester four. Majority of the faculty members felt that it was better if this subject is placed in the fourth semester.
There was healthy discussion among the faculty members about various difficult concepts like difference between ‘ethics’ and ‘morality’ and ‘values’.
Overall the session was appreciated by all concerned and all the participants felt the need of more such sessions in future.

Public speaking plays an important role in one’s career.For an individual to do well professionally, he/she needs to communicate effectively. Not everyone is born with effective communication skills, but one can certainly master the same with time and practice. Public speaking plays a crucial role in improving your communication skills.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) organised an “Open Elocution Competition”at Big Bazaar, Shalimar, Bharuch on 13th September 2018 from 5 pm onwards.
It invited participation from various colleges and schools across Bharuch city

NATIONAL HRD MONTHLY MEET
AT NARMADA COLLEGE MANAGEMENT
Narmada College of Management hosted NHRD Meet on 28/8/18 in the campus with purpose to encourage Industry – Institute linkage and placement programme.
The National HRD Network (NHRDN) is a Global Centre for Grooming Leaders and the National Apex body of professionals committed to promoting the People Development movement in the country and enhancing the capability of human resource professionals to compete globally and thereby creating value for society. Established over 28 years ago, NHRD is autonomous, not-for-profit professionally managed organization, playing a catalyst role in grooming Leaders for Tomorrow. It has 12,500 members representing, Multinationals, Public & Private organizations including Government, MSME & NGOs spread across 30 chapters in India and serves as a reference point for HR Professionals in Indian Industry.
NHRD Surat Chapter organizes uninterrupted monthly meetings for all HR professionals in this regionand is committed towards the development of human resources through education, training, research and experience sharing.
This time Narmada College of Management was selected as a venue for knowledge gaining and sharing platform. The programme was attended by most of HR professionals representing their industries from Dahej, Jhagadia, Ankleshwar, Panoli regions, NCM faculty members, NCM MBA - HR second year students. Approximately 60 corporate HR members and 20 NCM team members actively attended this meet.

A one day workshop on “Pursuit of Inner Self Excellence (POISE)” was arranged at Narmada College Campus for all the faculty members of the campus.
The workshop was the initiative of Heartfulness Institute, an organization working in the area of spirituality and meditation for the benefit of all.
Dr. Hegde the resource person of the day, began with asking some fundamental questions about, What are Human Values, Why do we need Human Values, Importance of Human Values in Life. Based on the response provided by the faculty members, he gave various examples which helped to clarify these concepts.
After that we had a meditation session in the form of small exercise. It was found to be useful by all the faculty members. The resource person gave the mantra of Expect not and Blame not for living a happy and satisfied life.
As part of self audit the participants were asked to list their positives and negatives and reflect on them.
After lunch break we had a session on the role of teacher in building society in which certain fundamental questions about who is a teacher, what is his/her responsibility towards student community, towards nation were discussed.
Then the participants did another mediation session on Rejuvenation, which was part of the cleaning exercise.
The session ended with feedback from the participants about the programme.

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme was organized by the Narmada College of Management; it was a one day programme on “Entrepreneurship Awareness” on 28th of August 2018 at MCA Hall of Narmada College of Science and Commerce.
The programme was been designed keeping in mind to facilitate the college students those who want to be an entrepreneur in the future. It was attended by students of different colleges in Bharuch. The programme was hosted by Prof Iram Khan; she gave the welcome speech and welcomed the three chief guests from CED Gandhinagar Dr Chirag Rathod, Dr Mayank Mehta and Dr Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal.

On 20thAugust 2018, a message was forwarded by one of the faculty in the group for donation camp of Kerala relief fund. On 21st august 2018, few students collected fund Rs 6710 from students of Narmada College of Management. Students contributed funds and from those funds the following items were purchased and sent to GNFC where the donated essentials were being collected. NCM specifically donated the following items.
