The three-day Orientation Programme for the 24th Batch of MBA 2023- 2025

Orientation Program for the 24th incoming batch of Narmada College of Management, was organized from 4th September to 6th September, 2023, Monday to Wednesday at Narmada College of Management. The new students were welcomed and successfully inducted into the regular teaching learning activities of the College. 

Day 1. 04/09/2023

Session One: 

The programme started at 10.30 AM with the Introduction of the Orientation Programme by Richa Aggarwal with the powerful quote “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela. Followed by Lamp Lighting Ceremony and a sonorous prayer by 2nd year students. Dignitaries present on the dais were Dr. Trupti S Almoula, Director, Narmada College of Management, Dr. P H Shah, Director (Education), NEST, Shri G C Shah, from SEWA Rural and Ex- Executive Director, GNFC and Shri Santosh Dinakaran, AGM, Well spun, Dahej.

The new incoming students were welcomed by Dr. Trupti S Almoula, director, NCM.

She warmly welcomed the students to the NCM Parivar and advised the students to

make the most of the two years that they are going to spend in the campus and come out as truly professional managers after completing their MBA. She assured the students of the requisite efforts that will be put up by the College for their right grooming and making them industry ready, so that they are successfully placed after their MBA course. The most important aspect of the MBA course was their active participation and initiation in the activities designed and implemented by the College for their growth and development.

Later, Kavita Verma, Prachi Singh & Shruti Mehta, introduced the dignitaries on the dais, Dr. P H Shah, Shri G C Shah and Shri Santosh Dinakaran and invited them to share some important insights, that’ll help students in the upcoming two years. The experts shared their views, the summary of which is attached below: 

Dr. P H Shah, Director- Education, NEST

After welcoming the students, he gave a list of 10 important things, mentioned as commandments discussed about his 10 commandments that the students should

remember and always keep in front of them. These commandments include goal setting, taking charge of responsibilities, sheer hard work, giving more than you receive, curiosity, interpersonal skills, enjoy every moment, take care of your health, take your decisions by

your own. He asked the students to become independent thinkers on their own and this ability will take them much forward in their life. The resistance on the part of the students to be thinkers and independently think on an issue with their own intelligence should be avoided by them. Usually, students always prefer to be followers, but they should leave behind this attitude and become real thinkers, was the important thing which was identified by Dr. Shah in his address.

Shri G C Shah

He said about the importance of life values, man making and character building. He also explained that how to become a leader and mentioned that college gives you a vision to become a leader. He explained about his organization SEWA Rural and discussed about its humble origins and the scope of its work in the community. He mentioned that when you help the needy people, you are improving yourself internally. 

Shri Santosh Dinakaran 

He mentioned to set goals from the first day itself, so that one can become industry ready, this’ll also help students bridge the classroom- boardroom gap. Faculty of the College polish your skills and prepare students for corporate world. The College will inculcate team leader qualities- presentation skills, brainstorming skills, convincing skills, etc. so that the students have an edge over others in placement opportunities.

Last, but not the least he told the students that they need to always “Believe in yourself”. 

Shri Tejas Jagdishwala (Alumnus of NCM) 

He shared his experience that, what Narmada College of Management & their practices helped him to become a successful professional in the industry and also how the institute still helps him navigate the corporate world with aplomb. He shared his entire journey from College to the Corporate World and exhorted the students to be always taking initiative and develop the ability to be lifelong learners.

The session ended with NCM Song, which has been written by Dr. Trupti S Almoula, Director, Narmada College of Management, and reflects the aspirations of the NCM Parivar.

Session Two:

Session Two began with an introduction of faculties & staff members by Mihir Suman & Rachel Minz. After that all the faculty members and staff addressed the new students with important aspects of the MBA program. 

Prof. Subhash Yadav, put light on topic Why MBA and its important for Management students. He said that the MBA program gave a helicopter view of business reality to the students and build the right perspective of business world in the mind of the students. He also outlined the new sectors that being opened up for MBA students. Prof. Rashmi Ghamawala, introduced the students about MOU (7 MOUs signed by NCM) & alumni linkage. She explained what is MOU? It’s benefits like goal achievement, knowledge enhancement, industry institute bridge. She also put light on the benefits of Networking, Sharpening skills, Placements and Overall development.

Prof. Iram Khan, put light on Entrepreneurship Development. She also conducted an Entrepreneurship Quiz for the new batch based on profiles of entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs.

Prof. Rakhi Thakkar, explained the importance of Extra-curricular & Co-curricular activities in the MBA course and how they help in developing a holistic personality of the students.

Prof. Rakesh Panchal shared important data on Placements of NCM. He also shared the specialization wise placement trends in the current and past years. Shri Kanu Raval, shared information about Computer Laboratory facility and the rules that the new students will have to follow in computer laboratory. Dr. Shailesh Shah, informed the new students on the applicable Rules of Library, procedure for the issue of books, the process of using of online platforms like Dell net, Pearson, etc.

Student participation in Solvay India Open House

Venue : Solvay Specialities India Pvt Ltd, Panoli Date     :     13 Dec 2017     As per the invitation from Solvay Specialities Pvt Ltd, 8 students and 2 faculties from Narmada college of Management participated in the “Open House” event organised by Solvay, on 13 th of December. Dr Chetna Makwana (associate professor) and Prof Rashmi Ghamawala (assistant professor) along with 8 students (from different specialisation) visited the company. The event started sharp at 10 am, where students and faculties of different colleges of Bharuch district were present, namely, SVMIT, KJ Polytechnic etc, along with the employees and staff of Solvay. All the participants were welcomed by Pratish Koparkar, who warmly welcome with his delightful words and starting off the briefing about various safety measures that need to be taken care of.
